Strategic objectives 2024-29

Following extensive consultation across the University, communities affected by our work, and thought leaders in Higher Education, we have identified six strategic objectives that we will focus on between 2024 and 2029, in two broad themes.

Our vision is a university where responsible and purposeful engagement with communities and the public is integral to our research, driving collaboration and creating positive change. To achieve this, we will:

1. Nurture our engagement environment by:

2. Improve our engagement practice by:

How communities are involved

We developed our strategy through listening to communities and other engagement stakeholders. Community voices from events and meetings, one-on-one conversations, an open survey, and a workshop helped us define and deliver our strategic objectives. As we implement our strategy, we continue to work with community members, especially around improving our engagement practice.

If you’d like to be involved, please contact our Community Engagement Manager Bridget Holligan via [email protected]. You may also be interested in other opportunities for the public and communities to get involved in the University’s research and innovation.

Evaluation approach

As the strategy is delivered, changes in three broad outcome domains will measure success:

  1. The environment for engagement
  2. The experience of engagement
  3. The effect of engagement

We expect to see these changes across the University as we work with relevant stakeholders to deliver and evaluate our strategy. For more information, including indicators and 'pulse check' questions, please see the Evaluating our strategy intranet page (SSO required).
