The Public and Community Engagement with Research (PCER) Fund

A funding opportunity for University of Oxford researchers and public and community groups to collaborate on purposeful and responsible engaged research projects.

The PCER Fund allows researchers and public engagement facilitators to apply for funding to support purposeful and responsible public and community engagement with research activities. External partners (e.g. representatives from patient and community groups, teachers, etc) can apply as co-applicants; the main applicant (Principal Investigator) must be either a researcher or a public engagement professional at the University of Oxford.

The PCER Fund supports projects from all disciplines, and aims to encourage and support public and community engagement projects that:

  • expand upon established ideas; or
  • experiment with innovative methodologies and novel approaches, and enhance engagement practices; and/or
  • develop external partnerships for future engagement opportunities.
  • Engage a diverse range of people with Oxford’s research, including under-engaged groups, bridging the gap between research and the public and communities.
  • Develop researchers’ skills in public and community engagement with research.
  • Fund projects with the potential to make a difference to members of the public and communities, researchers, and/or their research.

Projects can apply for up to £6,000 and funds must be spent before the end of June in the financial year they are received. If you are a community member with a specific interest, contact Bridget Holligan, Community Engagement Manager [email protected].
