If you have other questions or would like further advice, the Open Day Information Centre hosts a range of talks, including for parents and teachers, and information stalls staffed by our student service teams.  

If you need any guidance to help you find your way around events in Oxford, pop by to ask our dedicated team of staff and students here or at one of our information points in Radcliffe Square or by the Science Area and we’ll be happy to help.

Talks for families and supporters

These talks are aimed at families and supporters of prospective Oxford students. We recommend that prospective students instead concentrate on attending departmental programmes during these talks.  

Supporting your young person’s welfare 
When: 10:30–11:00 
Where: Room 6, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
How can you help your child successfully make the transition from school to university? Our support and welfare team will advise on supporting students during this challenging time as well as explaining the wide range of welfare services offered by the University to all its students. Questions will be welcome.

Supporting your young person’s application 
When: 11:10–11:40 
Where: Room 6, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
As well as answering your questions, we will explain our application timeline, highlighting deadlines and focusing on how you may support your child at each stage.

Supporting your Muslim young person’s application 
When: 11:50–12:20 
Where: Room 6, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
Is your Muslim child considering applying to Oxford? Are you curious to learn about the support the University can provide? Join representatives from the Oxford University Islamic Society (OUISoc) to hear about how Oxford could be the right place for your child and their faith. The session will dispel myths and showcase Muslim students' own experiences. You can also find OUISoc at their stall in the information room. 

Talks for teachers and advisers

These talks are aimed to teachers and advisers in schools, and are not open to general audiences, parents and supporters, or prospective students.  

Teachers’ forum 
When: 10:30–11:00 
Where: Room 7, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
A chance for teachers and advisers to meet with admissions staff, receive an update the Oxford admissions process and ask questions about how to support students who are considering Oxford. This session will also give advice on how to access Oxford’s many outreach resources.

Talks for prospective students

Astrophoria Foundation Year 
When: 14:00–14:30  
Where: Room 6, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
Are you a UK student interested in studying Chemistry, Classics, Engineering Science, English, History, Law, Materials Science, PPE or Theology but your personal or educational circumstances have meant you are unlikely to achieve the grades typically required for Oxford courses? If so, please come along to our talk to find out more about the Astrophoria Foundation Year!  

Student Finance 
When: 14:00–14:30  
Where: South School, First Floor, Examination Schools 
Hear all the latest information about course fees and living costs at Oxford. We will talk you through the funding currently available to UK students to cover these costs, including government funding. You will also hear more about Oxford’s financial support. This includes generous, non-repayable bursaries for students from lower-income households, and targeted funding for care leavers and estranged undergraduates without family support. A current student will be on hand to answer any questions about financing your studies.  

Sport at Oxford 
When: 14:45–15:15 
Where: Room 6, Ground Floor, Examination Schools 
Do you want to continue your sport at Oxford and find out about our programme for your sport? Are you interested in trying a new physical activity and want to know if there are opportunities for students at Oxford? Come along to our talk on all things sport at Oxford to find out more and ask us any questions you have about specific activities.

Applying to Oxford 
When: 14:45–15:15

A guide through the admissions process, with advice on how to make a competitive application. For prospective students who were unable to attend an admissions talk at a college or department.

Admissions testing 
Many of our undergraduate courses require applicants to take an admissions test. Visit this stall if you have any questions about the testing process.  

Student Fees and Funding 
Ask our fees and funding team about topics such as Oxford’s financial support provision, applying for government funding and the cost of living at Oxford.

Careers Service
Find out from the Careers Service about the support and opportunities available to Oxford students during and after their studies, including information about internships and graduate career prospects.

Astrophoria Foundation Year 
The Astrophoria Foundation Year provides a stepping stone to Oxford for UK state school students with significant academic potential whose personal or educational circumstances mean they're unlikely to meet to usual entry requirements for Oxford undergraduate courses. If this sounds like you or someone you know who's interested in studying Chemistry, Classics, Engineering Science, English, History, Law, Materials Science PPE or Theology, come along to our talk to find out more!

Mature Students (available 10:00–13:00 only) 
Any student who will be 21 or over at the start of their course is considered a mature student. Staff at this stand can talk to you about topics of particular interest such as entry requirements, finance and more.

Oxford Lifelong Learning
Information about adult learning at Oxford, provided by Oxford Lifelong Learning: part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, short courses in Oxford and online, summer schools and professional development courses.

MyOxford App Helpdesk
For the first time, visitors have the opportunity to access Open Day information via the University’s MyOxford app. Available to download from the App Store and Google Play, the app provides a neat dashboard with links to the webpages you'll need to plan your journey around the city. Staff from the MyOxford team will be on hand to answer any questions.

Oxford University Sport 
Visit our stall in the information room (or just come and say hi – we’ll be there all day) to speak to our sports staff and student representatives from sports clubs. Find out about sport overall, sports clubs, getting #ActiveAtOxford, health and fitness opportunities for students at Oxford. You can also come along to our Sport at Oxford talk for wider information on sport and physical activity at Oxford.

Oxford University Islamic Society (available 09:00–13:00 only) 
Interested in applying to Oxford as a Muslim? Bring your questions and concerns to current Muslim students and hear about their experiences to find out how Oxford could be the right place for you and your faith. We welcome both prospective students and families/supporters.

Oxford University Students' Union (Oxford SU)
Meet representatives from Oxford Students' Union and Oxford SU Advice. Oxford SU exists to represent you, the students of Oxford. Department timetables

Oxford students are not only members of a college, but also members of a department with access to libraries and facilities. Depending on the course you choose, you would usually have your lectures and do any laboratory work in your department with students from other colleges.
