Oxford is a famous university because it offers one of the best educations in the world and has been doing so for a very long time. Our core undergraduate teaching is based around conversations, normally between two or three students and their tutor, who is an expert on that topic. We call these tutorials, and it's your chance to talk in-depth about your subject and to receive individual feedback on your work. Tutorials offer a very rare level of personalised attention from academic experts.

Oxford offers one of the most generous financial support packages available for UK students, providing over £11 million of financial support to undergraduates from lower-income households. Around 1 in 4 UK students currently receives an annual, non-repayable bursary from Oxford. Oxford's libraries and museums are world-famous and as a student here you have free access to them all. Our facilities for studying science are among the best equipped and most advanced in the UK. This means that whatever your degree you will be able to immerse yourself in the perfect study environment throughout your time here. You will also very rarely, if ever, have to spend money on academic books of your own, or pay to have access to the other resources that you might need as part of your studies.

It's important you know that there are lots of people who are around to help if times get tough or you find yourself running out of steam. You can always talk to friends but there is also professional help available. 

At Oxford, students play an active role in shaping their University. The Student Union (Oxford SU) is the independent student-led body that brings student voices into the heart of University decision-making. Through its democratic and structured forums, students can shape policy, raise concerns and influence change across academic, welfare and community issues.

Oxford is a beautiful and vibrant city with lots to see and do. With over 40,000 students from two universities, it is a young city with a third of the population aged under 30. 

As a small city, it is easily explored on foot or by bike or bus but is also within easy travelling distance of other major cities including London. Green spaces are everywhere and range from extensive college grounds to the University Parks, Christ Church Meadow, Port Meadow and South Park. Whether it's a picnic by the river with friends or a gig on a Saturday night, there is something for everyone.
