Written work
Many of our courses require applicants to send in a sample of their written work as part of their application. Find out what you need to send (if anything), how to send it, and the deadlines by which the work must be received.
What do you mean by written work?
In this context, we are talking about writing produced during the course of your school or college work that is written in English and demonstrates your analytical, reasoning, language and writing skills, as appropriate for your chosen degree course.
Not all courses require written work so first check the list below to find out whether this applies to yours. You can also find details of written work and other admissions requirements on your course page.
The deadline for submitting written work is 10 November. (Please note that the deadline for submitting Fine Art portfolios is earlier).
If you are worried that you don’t have a suitable piece of work to submit, please contact the college you are applying to (or the college you are allocated to after you apply) to discuss what your options are.
If you are shortlisted, your written work may well form a springboard for discussion at your interview, so make sure to keep a copy for your own reference.
Note: in addition to submitting your UCAS application, some of our courses require you to take an admissions test, so make sure to check this as well. If you need to take a test in October, you will need to organise this yourself so do this soon.
How and what to submit - your written work checklist
The work you send in must be your own and original, written in English and ideally have been produced during the course of your school or college studies.
Do you need to send written work?
Find your course on this list and check whether you need to send in written work. If required, remember you should also check your course page for more details on what tutors want you to send.
Written work not required?
Don't forget to check for any other admissions requirements for your course.
