E-newsletter data

Oxford's e-newsletters are sent using Adestra, which is approved for use at the University by IT Services and Legal Services; and accords with relevant data privacy and information security policies. Adestra records how many times each email is opened and which links are clicked within it. This data is hosted in the UK on a secure server. The AAD Communications team uses an anonymised and aggregated form of this data to ensure that content is as relevant as possible. Individual user data is not monitored, and no personal data is shared with any other teams within the University, or with third parties. Before you arrive

Starting at university can feel like stepping into the unknown, but there is no need to worry. By completing all relevant tasks in the checklist below, you can ensure your arrival at the University goes smoothly.

Your first few weeks

Welcome to the University of Oxford in what is likely to be an exciting and hectic few weeks. Here you will find information to help you settle in and find your way around.

International students

The University welcomes some of the brightest minds from across the globe to study at Oxford every year.

Recognised students

Recognised Student status is given to graduate research students who are registered with another university and have been admitted to undertake research for a minimum of one and maximum of three terms.

Visiting students

If you are a student from overseas and wish to spend a period of up to three terms (one academic year) in Oxford on a course related to the degree you are studying in your own country, you can apply to a college for a place as a registered Visiting Student.

Mature students

Coming to university as a mature student can be both exhilarating and challenging. Whether you have been to university before or not, there is plenty of support on offer to help you extend your qualifications, improve your employment prospects or indulge in an interest for its own sake.

Financial declaration

After receiving an offer of a place to study at Oxford you are required to complete a Financial Declaration Form (FDF) in order to meet your financial condition of admission.

Matriculation is the ceremony that marks your formal admission to the University.

Matriculation

Matriculation confers membership of the University on students. Regulations for matriculation are set out in the University Statutes and Regulations.
