Outgoing Turing Students

The Turing Scheme is the UK government's funding programme for outgoing global study or work abroad activities. The University of Oxford secured Turing Scheme funding for specific student opportunities taking place in the 2025/26 academic year.

Turing Scheme – Outgoing Students

Students on eligible degree programmes at the University of Oxford have the opportunity to undertake a study placement and/or a work placement/traineeship/internship abroad funded by the UK Government’s Turing Scheme.

The Turing Scheme is a fully international scheme with no restriction on destination as long as travel complies with Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) guidance.

The activity abroad in 2025-26 must be a minimum of 14 days and a maximum of 12 months and be undertaken between 1st September – 31st August. Participants will only receive funding for the period that takes place during the eligible activity window. If an activity begins or ends outside of the eligible window, the majority of the placement must still take place within these dates.

The Turing Scheme grant is intended to be a contribution towards the cost of activity abroad and is not a full living costs grant.

Funding towards travel costs and additional funding for living costs may be available for students who are disadvantaged, based on Turing Scheme criteria. Additional support is also available for students who have special educational needs or disabilities.
