About the college
More graduates study at St Cross than at any of the Oxford Colleges which combine post and undergraduate students.
Selecting St Cross for graduate study gives you the best chance of being based near the city centre.
Set in beautiful grounds on St Giles’, and complete with pretty quadrangles overlooked by a splendid chapel, St Cross has a young graduate population – most ‘St Crossers’ are under 30, with an average age of 23. The college is friendly, lively and cosmopolitan. Students from around 80 countries come to St Cross to pursue study across the full breath of Oxford’s subject offering.
That means you will find stimulating conversation and access to events covering very different topics from what you will be studying in your department. Cross-fertilisation of ideas is St Cross’s speciality!
This is enhanced by the enjoyment of college facilities on equal terms with the Fellows. With shared dining in Hall (the college doesn't have ‘High Table’) and a Common Room that’s open to everyone, you’ll have ample opportunity to mingle with Oxford’s world-class academics.
