Make sure you have completed each of the following steps to ensure that you are entered for the correct assessments.
In order to complete your Examination entry successfully you must have completed your University registration within the student registration window. Details of the student registration process can be found in this guide.
The Entry Deadlines for assessments document can be found on the right hand side of this page.
If you are taking assessments this year and you are required to select the options you wish to take, you will be invited by email to enter for your assessments when the Examination entry window for your Examination opens. The email invitation will ask you to log in to Student Self Service to complete your assessment selections by a given deadline. Your selections will be validated and confirmed by a series of display screens and you will be able to log back in and change your choices within the Examination entry window as many times as you wish.

Once you have completed the entry process and entered for your assessments, you will receive a confirmation email that will list the assessments you have entered for. You can also view your Academic and Assessment Information page in My Exams at any time during the year to ensure you have been entered for all assessments correctly, notifying your college of any errors immediately. For Examinations that include a combination of core and optional assessments units, your core assessment units will also be listed alongside optional assessment units.
If your Examination consists of core assessments only (no choices of options) then your assessments will be visible in Student Self Service in due course.
Students who are suspended, and due to return to take assessments during the academic year, will also be required to enter for their assessments using Student Self Service by the advertised deadline. It is particularly important that you engage with this process to ensure you are entered for the correct assessments, especially if curriculum changes have taken place on your degree programme. The full range of assessments may not be available to students who enter late, and may depend on whether other students have entered for the assessment (and thus it has been set) and/or whether the examiners have sufficient time to set further assessments. You will be invited to enter for your assessments by an email sent to your @ox.ac.uk email address. Please ensure you monitor your university email account, or have it diverted to your personal account.
If you do not enter by the required deadline for your programme then you will need to pay a late entry fee. Once the fee has been received by the Academic Records Office, they will open the examination entry window for a limited time for you to complete your entry and send you an email to advise you of this. Please note that if you do not complete your entry by this deadline then you will need to pay a further late entry fee and the process be repeated.
You are responsible for ensuring that you enter yourselves for the correct assessments and should check your Student Self Service once entries are complete, and your personal timetable as soon as you receive it, so that any errors can be resolved as soon as possible. If you wish to change your options outside of the Examination Entry window you may be able to make a change of options request, on payment of a fee, through your college who in turn will submit any requests to the Academic Records Office (ARO). Changes will not always be possible, so you are urged to inform your college of any need to change as early as possible, and before the relevant assessments dates have passed. Requests submitted to the ARO less than five working days before the relevant assessment deadlines will not be considered. If the date or deadline of the 'original' or proposed 'new' assessment has already passed, or is in less than five working days, then it will not be possible to change options. Applications for alterations of options will not be processed until the change of option fee has been received.
The full range of assessments may not be available to students who enter late or change options late, and may depend on whether other students have entered for the assessment (and thus it has been set) and/or whether the examiners have sufficient time to set further assessments.

A personal timetable showing your papers and the dates, times and location at which they will take place will be published online at least two weeks before your first examination. Visit timetables for more information.
If you have entered for any assessments that are additional to the requirements of your Examination, but have subsequently decided not to pursue them, then you must inform your college office, who in turn will inform the Academic Records Office, prior to either the examination date or the submission date. If you fail to do this then you may be subject to a late change of option fee.
If you are considering withdrawal from a University Examination you should speak to your college tutor and / or senior tutor, or a member of your college's welfare team, to ensure that withdrawal is the appropriate option.
You may withdraw either before attempting any assessments or (subject to your college's permission) before the University Examination is complete, and apply to restart the examination process at a later date. In certain circumstances you will be required to repeat assessments.
You cannot withdraw from a University Examination after you have attempted the last assessment, that is, after the date of the last exam or last submission deadline has passed.
Such withdrawals from the examination process must be notified through your college office (for undergraduates) or through your department (for graduate taught students and non-matriculated students).
