About us

All freshers live in college in single study bedrooms. St Peter's can house up to half of its second-year students in college rooms, as well as all third-year students who wish to live in college accommodation. Students in college accommodation live on the main college site or in college-owned accommodation in Oxford's historic Castle Quarter, located a five-minute walk away. Second-year students who live out of college often rent student properties with their friends in one of Oxford’s lively and student-friendly neighbourhoods, such as Cowley or Jericho.

The Dining Hall caters for a variety of different diets and budgets, favouring fresh ingredients and original recipes. The student-staffed College Bar and flourishing programme of community activities and opportunities add to the warmth of college life. Both the college library and the dedicated law library, Barron House, are open 24 hours a day.

The Student Finance Officer helps students navigate their budgeting and financial questions and the college makes available several grants, bursaries, scholarships and hardship funds to support student success.

The college encourages students to engage in extra-curricular activities, supporting societies and clubs for music, the arts, sport and other interests. Junior Common Room representatives for the arts, sport and other aspects of student life organise opportunities and activities for students, including our annual Garden Play. The college has access to shared sporting facilities and sports grounds, including a boathouse, and students can access subsidised gym memberships. St Peter's students engage in inter-college sport ranging from rugby to rowing, football, hockey, netball and cricket, among many others, and several students also represent Oxford at the University level (‘Blues or Half Blues’).

The auditioned St Peter's College Choir has an established reputation for its choral excellence, diverse repertoire, and collegiality. Students of all abilities can participate in college musical life by joining the St Peter’s College Music Society, which hosts free weekly recitals during term time.

Do you choose a college?

Not exactly. You can put a college's campus code on your UCAS form to specify a preference but you might still be shortlisted and offered a place by another college.
